I think not. Consider the phenomenon of postmodernism and its attendant relativism. Many people do not know about these influences, much less care. The fisherman knows what matters to him and his family...he does not care to work harder, or more, than he need work. His future is day-by-day, not ten years away. This is out-of-sync with modernity.
