Agents may include social institutions, which adapt and whose interactions generate emergent phenomena as well as path dependence. <br /><br />Does this, in your view, offer the necessary corrective? If so, how can some of the other methodological insights of analytical sociology (creating causal chains, hierarchies and structures) be deployed usefully in evolutionary frameworks? Or does this still imply a residual reductionism?
